July Feel Good Story
This is the “feel good ” story of the month. We found Susan Kleiner’s story in the Huffington Post July 18, by Lori Weiss. Her story is an inspiration. Even though Susan was 100 pounds overweight she decided to stop letting life pass her by and signed up for her first triathlon. She stopped worrying about how she looked in a bathing suit and just dug in. At that moment she was already a success.

Foodservice PMA Expo
Mann Packing joined 160 exhibitors this past weekend in Monterey, CA for the Foodservice Produce Marketing Association Expo. This annual event focuses on exhibitors showcasing their newest products and services to the food service industry. Buyers, chefs, restaurants, hotels and convenience store owners from all over the United States attend this event.
Mann focused on the two newest foodservice products: Arcadian Harvest® Classic™ and Emerald™ blend and the Better Burger Leaf™. “The Better Burger Leaf™ is unique. It fills the shape of sandwich breads and burger buns better than a traditional green leaf. It has a tender crunch and a sweet iceberg flavor,” says foodservice director, Rick Russo.
The Arcadian Harvest® Classic™ and Emerald™ blend of petite leaves, made its debut and provided a delicious salad presented in a savory waffle cone for attendees to sample.

The Men and Women Behind Mann!
Mann Packing Co was proud to be part of this summer’s baseball program sponsored by the San Jose/San Francisco Giants Foundation. The foundation partnered with the Salinas Police Activities League (PAL) to bring 8 weeks of baseball to 430 local Salinas children. Mann gave back to the community by donating baseball gloves for all of the players, and was able to join them on July 14 to hand them out on opening day.

Question, from Susan in Ohio: Is all of your produce picked when ripe? Are any of your products ripened with ethylene gas?
Answer: Our produce is ripe when picked, then sorted, trimmed and packaged. We do not use any type of gas, additives or preservatives in any of our products.
July is National Picnic month. Don’t forget to pack some fresh-cut veggies in your picnic basket before you take off to the beaches, lakes or favorite campsite. They make a tasty snack and help give you the extra energy you need for all of those activities.
