Participation in the Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival receives national recognition

SALINAS, Calif. - August 11, 2008 -Mann Packing Company, Inc., received a marketing excellence award from Produce Business magazine.

The award recognizes innovative produce companies who are revolutionizing the way the produce industry connects its products to the trade and consumers, according to the magazine's guidelines.

Mann was awarded for its participation in the first annual Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival where the company served its signature vegetable, Broccolini, to celebrity chefs, culinary professionals and other food enthusiasts.Ý

Broccolini® was featured in the 30,000 square-foot Lexus Grand Tasting Tent where.Ý Two Grand Tastings occurred over the course of the promotional event, allowing guests to interact with chefs and ask about preparation methods and product applications.

Chef Craig Von Foerster from Sierra Mar restaurant at the Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, Calif., prepared a Broccolini® recipe that included pork marinated in ginger soy sauce. In addition, Broccolini® was featured with two other family-owned fresh fruit and vegetable grower/shippers from the Salinas valley as a salute to Monterey County agriculture in a "farm stand" display where representatives from Mann Packing Company distributed recipe cards, product information and answered questions about the growing region and their products.

Mann Packing also provided Broccolini® to all Pebble Beach Resort kitchens for use by the 50 chefs attending the event.Ý In addition, Mann provided Broccolini® for use in after-party preparations attended by participating chefs, press representatives and wineries. To further awareness for Broccolini®, gift bags with Mann Packing branded items and media materials were delivered to food writers and chefs attending the event.

ÝÝ "The event was a huge success and Pebble Beach Food & Wine is staged to become the largest luxury food and wine event in the country," said Lorri Koster, vice president of marketing. "For Mann Packing's Broccolini®, this meant valuable exposure to leading culinary professionals from around the world."
